YWCA Movement in Brief Brief History 

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Association is to advance the spiritual, mental, physical and social welfare of women, to promote their growth in Christian character and to cultivate Christian spirit of fellowship and service.

The badge of the Y.W.C.A., with its equal sides,

symbolises the development of the body,

mind and spirit of the whole person,

while the central horizontal line represents

the social relationship development.

With an all-round development, one will lead an abundant life of

truth, joy and peace, in rich contributions to the society.

Mission

Maintaining Long-lasting Vitality (Y)

To maintain long-lasting vitality of YWCA by bringing in new bloods from time to time, with guidance and support by experienced members and leaders.

Advancing Women’s Movement (W)

To promote cooperation between two sexes and enhancement of women through providing diversified women-oriented services; advancing women’s self-development; enabling women engaged in different roles in family and workplace; and proactiveness in expressing views on women issues.

Bridging up Church and Society (C)

To witness the love of God through providing services for the needy and sharing the Gospel; to nurture with biblical truth; to build a Christian culture of Harmony and Unity among members, volunteers and staff; and to act as a bridge between church and society.

Enhancing Unity and Fellowship (A)

To build a culture of Unity that fosters a sense of belonging and commitment to the Association among members, volunteers and staff, serving the society together as a whole.
