The HK-YWCA’s English Speaking Members Department (ESMD) was first established in 1946, its aim to serve a community of expatriates, assisting them adjust to living in Hong Kong, develop and continue interest, and make friends.

Now serving the wider Hong Kong English speaking community, the ESMD is b looming as the largest provider in Hong Kong delivering multi-discipline courses taught in English. .

The Department provides over 800 courses during the course of the year, covering health and special interest talks, hikes, health & fitness classes, Chinese etiquette and language, mahjong, bridge, arts & crafts, social activities, as well as a huge range of fun, safe and stimulating children’s programmes.

Still as it signature course, The ‘At Home’ programme orients newcomers to Hong Kong’s lifestyle, food and local attractions, while they make new friends and settle into their new environment. Moreover, members can enhance their lives by joining as a volunteer.

The ESMD has around 1000 members, from around 50 different nationalities, mainly from UK, USA and Australia with a growing numbers of members from Hong Kong and South East Asia.
