The Association co-organised “Project WeCan” Career Exploration Day

The Association is again invited to co-organise Shape Our Future: WeCan! Programme, sponsored by the Wharf (Holdings) Limited’s Project WeCan and Social Welfare Department’s Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged. 76 secondary schools join the programme in school year 2018/19, and students from 35 schools joined the first event held on Nov 24 at Youth College (Yeo Chei Man) to discover and experience various industries.

The event invited Mr. Ng Tin Hoi, Stephen, Chairman and Managing Director of the Wharf (Holdings) Limited, Mr. Lo Hoi Kwong, Sunny, Chairman of Café de Coral Holdings, Ltd., and Mrs. Patricia Ling, MH, JP, HKYWCA’s President to officiate at the ceremony. After the ceremony, the guests interacted with the tutors at the job exploration and career consultation booths, to discuss how to help students pave their career.

The Association’s staff and practitioners of different industries designed 34 job tasting sessions which covered 18 industries, for example aircraft maintenance engineer, programmer, kindergarten teacher, fitness trainer, bar-bender and fixer. Students received information of the skills required, duties and responsibilities of the jobs that interested them. Guests from different industries shared their stories, which further broadened the horizons of the participants and encouraged them to chase their dreams.

Besides, there were booths providing career consultation, further studies information and mock interviews to help students to better plan their future.
