Participants from NWS Career Navigator For Youth had a conversation with a CEO
Sponsored by NWS Holdings Limited, HKYWCA organised “Conversation with a CEO” for the participants from NWS Career Navigator For Youth. The Association was pleased to have Mr. William Yeung, Hong Kong Broadband Network CEO, to share his life experience with over 100 S.4 students and their teachers. Mr. Yeung encouraged the students to grasp every learning opportunity and be positive when facing challenges. Ms. Sheila Tang, NWS Corporate Communications and Sustainability Director, Mr. Foster Lam, HKYWCA’s Service Director (Education & Employment Service) and members of the supporting organisations also attended the event.

Mr. William Yeung talked about three turning-points in his life, including the time he graduated and started working, the time he decided to change job, and the time he became a CEO. He suggested students to treasure every learning opportunity and find out one’s own interests, which are two essential elements leading to success. He also took himself as an example, and mentioned his studies in history during high school gave him a great lesson on how to interact with people, and enabled him to apply what he learnt in daily work like corporate and people management. Students were interested in Mr. Yeung’s sharing and enthusiastic in raising questions for the guest. They were eager for advices on job selection and hints to career success.

At last, Mr. Yeung received a souvenir from Ms. Sheila Tang, and snacks from the students, who demonstrated thoughtfulness and creativity in the selection process.

HKYWCA works together with NWS Holdings Limited to organise NWS Career Navigator For Youth, which is implemented in five schools in Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing District. It is a four-year project providing career planning workshops, corporate visits, mentors’ guidance, career talks, mock interviews and career counseling to high school students. Mentor recruitment is now open and we welcome corporate volunteers to join us in 2017/18 school year.
