2025 marks the 105th anniversary of Hong Kong YWCA. A Thanksgiving Celebration was originally scheduled for Dec 5. However, in light of the serious fire at Wang Fuk Court, Tai Po, the event has been turned into a Worship and Prayer Assembly, with an additional session to pray for those affected by the disaster. We hope to dedicate the event to our Heavenly Father and Hong Kong, and to provide comfort and blessings to the society.

Dr. Wong Wai Ching, Angela, Director of the Association led the congregation in a moment of silence for the residents affected by the fire at Wang Fuk Court, Tai Po, and highlighted the heroic acts of foreign domestic workers who risked their lives to save others. She also expressed gratitude to the frontline for rescuing people and providing support.

President Lee Shuk Ying, Helen then delivered a speech, reviewing the development of YWCA since its establishment in 1920 into a social service organisation with over a hundred service units. She quoted Psalm 65:11 to describe the YWCA’s century-long journey of grace. She stressed the importance of the spirit of Christ's love in serving the Hong Kong community. Ms. Lui San Man, Simmy, the First-Vice President also encouraged the congregation in her prayer to rise to any challenges ahead as Jesus will be with us.

Ms. Luk Sai Lam, Alice, the Third-Vice President read a passage from Mark 4, which was then preached about by Dr. Tsang Ho Yin, Kenneth, President of the Lutheran Theological Seminary. He explained that YWCA movement originates from God’s will and we can witness His Grace if we hold onto our faith. Before the assembly ended, all participants once again offered their blessings to the residents of Wang Fuk Court, wishing them courage and hope.
