Volunteers from AXA Hong Kong visited different HKYWCA service units and participated in various volunteering activities in 5 consecutive days for its "Corporate Responsibility Week" to promote “healthy life”.

Activities which are focused on promoting “healthy diet”, “physical health” and “mental health” were organised. Volunteers learned making simple healthy food like gluten-free donuts, quinoa kimbap etc. from HKYWCA Handmade 38C’s instructor, and assisted the kids, elderly and women during the cooking process. Through these workshops, the participants learned how to maintain a balanced diet by including various healthy ingredients in their meals. What’s more, in order to keep elderly stay away from high cholesterol, volunteers attended a seminar about healthy diets with the elderly, and prepared a delicious low-cholesterol meal for them.

One of the secrets to good health is doing exercise. Therefore, AXA’s volunteers worked with Y Fitness to hold a series of fitness workshops for the elderly. Not only conducting physical assessments for them, a variety of simple exercises were taught as well, to encourage elderly to establish regular exercise habits for better health. AXA Hong Kong is also aware of the importance of elderly’s mental health, so its volunteers created pastels with the elderly to help them expressed their feeling in order to stay in good mood, whilst exercising and strengthening their fingers and wrists movements.

"Corporate Responsibility Week" is an annual global initiative of AXA. The Association was glad to be part of it again and worked hand in hand with AXA Hong Kong to promote healthy living to our services users.
