Ellen Li District Elderly Community Centre has been serving the North District for 30 years, and held a carnival and a banquet for celebration. Apart from the participation from the elderly, the Association was grateful that representatives from the Labour and Welfare Bureau, various rural committees and community partners joined us in this joyful time. 

Apart from having Ms. Alice Lau, JP, Permanent Secretary for Labour and Welfare and different community partners to join the carnival ceremony, "Healthy living in North District – Carnival for Elderly" featured a wide range of activities that showcase the elders’ talents, e.g. dance performance, photo exhibition, paintings exhibition, etc. Old Uncle Lung Chi Keung displayed 20 paintings which demonstrated a combination of Chinese and Western watercolours and oil paintings. The photo exhibition titled "Collection of Most Memorable Moment" recorded the stories of five elders in writings and photography. Mr Chris Sun, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare also paid a visit and chatted with one of the old ladies.

The 30th anniversary celebration banquet was held as the finale. 30 banquet tables were filled with all sectors of the North District community, including representatives of Rural Committee of Sheung Shui, Fanling, Sha Tau Kok and Ta Kwu Ling. YWCA staff, service users and community partners enjoyed the evening together. We shared the fruitful achievements of the centre in the North District over the past 30 years, and all guests wished us well as we continue to serve the community and contribute to its well-being!
