To gain a deeper understnading of the Association’s diverse community support services, Mr. Edward To Wing Hang, JP, Director of Social Welfare; Mr. Edric Leung Sing Lung, JP, Kwai Tsing District Officer; and Ms. Perin Sindy Chan Sin Yee, District Social Welfare Officer (Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing), alongside 21 Kwai Tsing District Councillors, visited YWCA’s Tsing Yi Integrated Social Service Centre and Mr. & Mrs. C.F. Tao Neighbourhood Elderly Centre on Sep 4. The Association’s senior management, including Ms. Yvonne Yeung, Chief Executive; Ms. Emily Lee, Deputy Chief Executive; Mr. Foster Lam, Service Director (Youth and Community Service); and Mr. Kenneth Chow, Service Director (Aged Care & Community Health Service), warmly received the delegation, engaging in in-depth discussions on district welfare.

The guests toured the youth and elderly facilities at Ching Ho House. At Tsing Yi Integrated Social Service Centre, they visited the indoor rock-climbing wall. Staff explained how the five-metre-high wall and the specially designed "Badge of Courage" effectively boosted the focus and self-esteem of children with special educational needs or those lacking self-confidence. They then proceeded to the multi-purpose hall, where they heard from the youth production team about their strategies in utilising the space for theatre production and filmmaking. 

The centre’s self-service room booking system (TOMO) and interest classes led by youth instructors attracted many young people, allowing them to make good use of their expertise and connect with like-minded peers. After enjoying a live busking performance in Youth Space, visitors were impressed by the acievements of the youth-adult co-creation projects under Dean Society, which included "We are Fat Tiger Concert". This highlighted the vibrant potential of the centre since its renovation in 2024.

Guests then moved to Mr. & Mrs. C.F. Tao Neighbourhood Elderly Centre to observe the Association’s active promotion of lifelong learning and its support for carers. Elderly members shared their inspiring journey in staying abreast of the times, starting from learning to use smartphones and practical digital tools like Google Maps and Google Calendar, to joining the recent trend of Pikmin Bloom and AI. They have unlocked various technological milestones step by step. "Digital Design @ UV Printing" project further showcased the boundless creativity of both staff and service users, featuring highly exquisite, self-made collectible cards. 

Furthermore, our staff demonstrated the flexible respite care solutions to the guests. Caregivers can either enjoy quality time with the seniors, or feel at ease leaving them in the centre's care to take some rest or handle personal matters. It effectively relieves carer’s pressure, actualising a holistic "dual-wellbeing" care model and creating a safe haven that feels just like home.

The Association extended its sincere appreciation to the Social Welfare Department, the Kwai Tsing District Office and the District Council for their invaluable guidance. The meaningful visit not only served as a recognition of YWCA’s innovation and commitment in frontline services, but also laid a solid foundation for strengthening future cross-sector co-operation to benefit the wider public.
