As the co-organiser, YWCA worked with Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association, the main sponsor The Hong Kong Jockey Club, and the supporting organisation Po Leung Kuk Riverain Primary School to launch the event, “Together We Care 2024”. Mr. Li Xiao-peng, previous national gymnast, and a group of retired elite athletes attended the event to spread love and care to 2,800 families in need. Beneficiaries included low-income families, new arrival families, families living in subdivided units, street sleepers, elderly singletons, families with SEN children and single mothers.

Beneficiaries received gift packs filled with food, e.g. white rice, saltine crackers, instant oatmeal and beans vermicelli, and daily necessities like towel, laundry sticks, Ping On Ointment and calendar. Six Hong Kong elite athletes, Mr. Cheung Siu Lun, Shawn, Mr. Shek Wai Hung, Ms. Zhang Ling, Ms. Lee Yuen Ying, Mr. Tang Yik Chun and Mr. Chan Chi Fung left warm messages and signed on the greeting cards to show their love and care. 

An old man who loves painting showed his drawings to the volunteers and painted a portrait for Mr. Li Xiao-peng and his daughter during their visit. They shared the good vibe together. The event mobilised around 1,400 volunteers to move around 13 different districts, including Western District, Sai Wan Ho, Ho Man Tin, Wong Tai Sin, Ngau Tau Kok, Sham Shui Po, Tsing Yi, North District, Sha Tin, Tseung Kwan O, Tin Shui Wai, Tuen Mun and Island District. They visited and distributed gifts to 2,800 people in need. “Together We Care” has been launched for 20 years. The Association would like to continue to provide love and warmth to the underprivileged in the future.
