Linde volunteer team visited elderly living in stilt houses in Tai O
Being one of the hottest picks by tourists, Tai O is a historic fishing village away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located in the remote area with an ageing population, elderly living in Tai O lack resources and require assistance with their daily lives. Linde Materials Handling Hong Kong Limited volunteer team paid home visits to elderly living in stilt houses in Tai O and spread their love by presenting gift packs. At the same time, volunteers got the opportunity to explore this historic fishing village and enjoy the unique beautiful scenic view of Tai O.
The tourist guide, local elderly resident who received professional training, introduced the culture and history of Tai O to the volunteers. The group walked along the streets in the area to enjoy the uniqueness of this iconic fishing village. Volunteer team started home visits after the tour. They distributed gift packs to elderly living in stilt houses and took initiatives to chat with the elderly, who shared their daily lives and expressed their feelings of living in Tai O. As a finale of the day, Tai O residents taught volunteers to make traditional food, such as white bean congee and glutinous rice dumplings. Volunteers experienced the food culture of Tai O and can share with their family back in the city. The Association would like to thank Linde Materials Handling Hong Kong Limited for supporting this meaningful event. The elderly had an enjoyable afternoon filled with volunteers’ love and care.
