"Inside Out 2" has been very popular since its launch. This August, Sinomax organised a parent-child movie screening and invited Tuen Mun families to join. All the volunteers, parents and children liked this movie very much. It dispelled misunderstanding of emotions by the general public and encouraged people to face one’s own true feeling. Apart from the movie itself, the debriefing activities on emotion management was also educational.

After the screening session, children went on a city hunt in Tuen Mun Park under the company of the volunteers. Despite the steamy summer weather, the volunteers played and ran with the energetic children, and soon got along well with each other. They shared their thoughts on the movie, their interests and life stories. The volunteers also took the initiative to care for the children when they were in a mood.

With the help of the volunteers, the parents were able to take a break from their responsibilities of carers and participate in the emotion management workshop conducted by YWCA social worker. Starting from the movie, they shared the difficulties in dealing with their children’s emotions and the worries about the kids entering adolescence. Social worker used the Association’s latest picture book Worrying Otter to teach them to regulate children’s emotions with Emotion Coaching. It is important to understand one’s desire for affirmation and acceptance before achieving effective parent-child communication.

Thanks to Sinomax for organising the movie screening and giving out the picture book Worrying Otter to every participating family. Many participants expressed their appreciation for this event.
