The Association is grateful for all the support received during our flag selling event, especially to those who donated via the Gold Flag campaign despite the difficult time everyone is going through. This helps to raise funds for more timely services for the needy.
The grassroots have felt the pinch because of the economic downturn brought by COVID-19. Except helping with their basic necessities, the Association also realises needs that are not visible to all. Services that do not sound urgent to one might be fundamental to the others. For example, rehabilitation training is important to prevent patients’ condition from deteriorating, and training for children with special educational needs has to be done during the golden time. Countless examples convince us that fulfilling the needs of these people is crucial, even limited services are to be provided.
The Association planned to organise Flag Day to raise funds for our self-financed services, but was forced to cancel the outdoor flag selling event because of the volatile epidemic. Luckily, thanks to our committed colleagues who promoted the gold flag and the generous donors, corporate partners and organisations that supported the campaign, we did earn extra resources to serve the community. The Association will ensure the donation goes to services that help people in need.
YWCA will continue to serve the needy and wish to have you on board all the time.
Remarks: The Director of Social Welfare has given approval to three organisations to conduct regional flag sale in Hong Kong Island region, Kowloon region and the New Territories region respectively on 4 July, 2020 and YWCA is authorised to sell flags in Kowloon on that day.
