We light up the lamp for illumination. Light also represents hope which leads you to the way out of darkness. Union Enterprises gave back to the community by organising visit to YWCA Mr. & Mrs. C.F. Tao Neighbourhood Elderly Centre. The volunteers and elderly worked together to make Turkish mosaic glass lamps with colourful glass pieces. 

The volunteers helped the elderly to create pattern with the glass pieces on the worksheet. Then they glued the glass pieces to the lampshades. The activity was beneficial to the elders’ health, as the mix and match of the colourful glass pieces helped to improve the coordination of their brain, eyes and hands. While they were working on their own Turkish mosaic glass lamp, they chatted and had a relaxing moment together. 

The volunteers enjoyed the meaningful event, and at the end of the day, gifted the self-made Turkish mosaic glass lamps to the elderly, wishing them wonderful golden age, as colourful as the lamp. The elderly love the lamps very much, and expressed appreciation to the volunteers for their companionship. All participants spent a great afternoon together.
