Volunteers provided free haircut service to elders
The Association’s Tai O Community Work Office invited a volunteer team to provide free haircut service for elderly living in Tai O.
To avoid travelling long distances, Tai O residents with impaired mobility seldom leave the island. On epidemic influence, elderly stay at home for even longer yet might not be able to meet their family members elsewhere. Hence, the Association invited a volunteer team to visit the elderly and provided free haircut service.
The volunteers are all well trained. Some of them have had a lot of experiences and are as good as professional hairdressers. They provided service for around 50 elders on the event day. While a group of volunteers did the haircut in our centre, another group visited the elderly who lived in rural area and had impaired mobility. Apart from hairdressing, volunteers also expressed concerns on the elders’ daily needs, and sought for relevant information from the social workers when appropriate. Participants welcomed such activity and looked forward to seeing the volunteers again.
