YWCA launches the Y Silver Maker Online Shop recently to encourage young olds to contribute their experience after retirement. An array of new handmade products with festive vibes are now in stock to celebrate the forthcoming Chinese New Year.
While silver age refers to young olds aged 50 or above ("50+"), maker can be related to the DIY culture. Y Silver Maker gathers a group of 50+ volunteers who utilise their knowledge and skills to create handmade products. While one who used to be a seamstress can practise her craftsmanship again, another 94-year-old learns new skills to make soaps. Their scented candles, soaps, fabric items, crochet work etc. are not only nicely made, but also carry their stories to be discovered by the customers.
As Chinese New year is coming, Y Silver Maker stocks a wide range of new products with festive vibes. The volunteers would like to celebrate the festival with the public, and invite all of you to witness their achievement.
Made of natural ingredients like beeswax, essential oil, turmeric powder etc., the bricks are effective in repelling pests, without harming human and the environment. It is good to place some at home after spring-cleaning.
Y Silver Maker Online Shop provides a wide range of products that are ideal both for personal use and as gifts. Custom orders make it even more meaningful for corporate gifts. Every transaction customers make at the online shop means a lot to the young olds, as it represents the recognition for their efforts and great work. Your contribution will definitely help promote active ageing - besides, the net revenue will go to YWCA’s 50+ services and support senior citizens in need.
