Life is like a game of chess, yet with a joyful heart, we can navigate every path we cross. YWCA Flag Day was held with great success on May 30. The event marked a significant milestone as the Association expanded our footprint to the New Territories for the first time and collaborated with the popular emoticon character SHO-CHAN, to present a journey filled with joy and fun. Through a seamless integration of online and offline initiatives, the campaign raised funds for our diverse community services while delivering a positive message to society. 

On the day of the event, more than 3,000 dedicated volunteers took to the streets, tirelessly devoting their time and energy to this charitable cause. Alongside the Association’s service users and volunteers, we were joined by corporate teams from CLP, Urban Group, Hong Kong Airlines, FSE Environmental Solutions, Phase Scientific, etc. Despite weather forecasts predicting showers during the event, we were blessed with clear, sunny skies under the grace of our Heavenly Father, allowing the street fundraising to proceed smoothly.

This year, the Association took a step forward in its digital transformation. In addition to traditional street fundraising, we upgraded our online fundraising platform. The most encouraging outcome was the tremendous increase in the number of online volunteers. We are deeply grateful to our partners, as numerous corporations, professional bodies, and community groups rallied to our call. They formed strong online volunteer teams, sharing electronic flag bags to raise funds from their social circles. The online platform not only provided a seamless donation experience but also ignited the community’s passion for giving through real-time updates of the fundraising figures on our website. 

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the public, the event raised over HK$1.3 million. The Association extends its heartfelt gratitude for this continuous wave of support, which was made possible by the dedicated efforts of our online and offline volunteers, as well as the kindness of our donors. The Association will put these proceeds to good use, supporting children with special educational needs, youths facing emotional challenges, and women re-entering the workforce, enabling them to showcase their resilience and commendable talent. YWCA will continue to uphold our mission of serving the public, working with all sectors to extend care to every corner of the community, and building a better, more harmonious society.
