YWCA demonstrated the latest rehabilitation facilities in Gerontech and Innovation Expo
YWCA Elderly Service Department joined the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES), to exchange ideas with the industry, and to encourage the public to employ technology to improve elderly’s quality of life.
The Association introduced how our elderly services make use of innovative rehabilitation facilities to encourage elderly to exercise regularly and stay healthy, as suggested by “GYM go young move”, the key message of our GIES booth. HUR products, which the Association has recently introduced into our service, were showed in the booth. The products can be used to assess elders’ muscle strength, endurance, balance etc. Its RFID function records users’ training patterns, which make it easier for the physiotherapist or trainer to monitor the progress and design a tailor-made rehab training plan.
Other products e.g. Vast Rehab, the AI robot KEB BI etc. were also available for visitors to test on trial. First-hand experience together with the elaboration by our staff explained clearly how technology helps the elderly by arousing their awareness of health management and supporting their rehabilitation needs.
The Association has made great effort to develop innovative rehabilitation services for elders and improve their quality of life. From offering therapy in the centre, to providing trainings at home, and even implementing tele-rehabilitation programmes that do not require face-to-face interaction, YWCA offers services for all elderly, even those who have to stay home. Thanks to the latest technology, we are able to monitor our patients’ rehab progress and provide training and advices during the novel coronavirus outbreak.
The Association’s Y Care provides one-stop rehabilitation services for elders, and the centres located in Sha Tau Kok and Ho Man Tin are equipped with the facilities mentioned above. For enquiries, please contact the following centres:
