YWCA organised Jockey Club “Plan & Go” Active Ageing Programme for young retirees to strike for a meaningful retirement
Funded by Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, Jockey Club “Plan & Go” Active Ageing Programme encourages young-olds to live a meaningful and happy retirement. Participants take part in innovative activities and expand their social network. Having discovered their talents and interests, they develop and achieve their retirement plans accordingly.
Graduation ceremony of Jockey Club “Plan & Go” Active Ageing Programme was held at PMQ recently. The ceremony consists of three parts: stage performance, handcraft booths and Book Of Life exhibition. Nunchaku team performed a powerful show for the audience, dance performance created an energetic vibe, and the band accelerated an overwhelming performance in the ceremony. Over 30 handcraft booths hosted by 50+ sold innovative self-made handcrafts. Their products were very popular.
Book Of Life showcased over 40 exhibits. Part of the books were written by 50+ about their own retirement lives. The rest were co-created by 50+ and students of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, as a record of the life stories of different 50+. “I found myself becoming more energetic after joining this programme. It has brought me new skillsets and techniques, with which I can reward the society by helping other elderly or people in need. I will embrace myself by turning a new page of my life to strike for a meaningful retirement,” said one of the participants.
