YWCA representatives attended the grand ceremony of District Health Centre
YWCA operates the North District Health Centre Express and provides primary healthcare services to people living or working in the community. The Association joined the grand ceremony of District Health Centre last week to exchange ideas with representatives from other districts.
The grand ceremony was officiated by government officials and celebrated by congratulatory videos from different organisations. To respond to the theme “New Journey in Primary Healthcare”, doctors were invited to introduce the three layers of primary healthcare and related services. Representatives from 18 operators attended the event too. YWCA delegation included Ms. Helena To, President; Ms. Olivia Leung, Honorary Secretary; Ms. Helen Lee, Honorary Treasurer; Dr. Ho Kit Wan, Director and Chairperson of Social Service Committee; Ms. Yvonne Yeung, Chief Executive; Ms. Emily Lee, Deputy Chief Executive etc. The Association also sent a social worker to join rope skipping world champion and other representatives to demonstrate basic fitness training.
The North District Health Centre Express, with the core centre in Sheung Shui, three service points situated in Fanling, Sha Tau Kok, Ta Kwu Ling, and an outreach coach, has been serving the community for eight months. Other than providing assessment, screening and rehabilitation services, various health promotion projects have been launched, including talks on fitness training, nutrition and health, emotional wellness, home safety, etc. Topics like balanced diets, tips on quitting smoking etc. are also shared online and within the community. The latest project “They Day Walk” is a scheme to encourage 30-min brisk walk per day.
