YWCA sent red-date tea with warm words of encouragement to Hongkongers on ChariTea’s 12th anniversary
2020 was an extraordinary year, yet the fight against COVID-19 is still ongoing. People need to safeguard their jobs and income, and students have to catch up with their study without classes. To salute those who struggle to fit into the new normal, YWCA celebrated International Women’s Day with the 12th ChariTea programme and distributed red-date tea bags on 8 Mar, reminding people to be caring and appreciative.
To follow government’s pandemic measures, we worked with our partners to distribute the tea bags instead of following our usual plan. The tea bags prepared by volunteers from the Hong Kong Jockey Club were sent to hospitals, clinics, schools and housing estates. Some were given out to the public through our service centres, hoping to fuel people with warmth and strength.
YWCA is grateful for the support from our corporate partners, including the Hong Kong Jockey Club, FTLife Insurance Company Limited, Betterment Catering Management Limited, Lee Hong Dispensary Superstore Co., Ltd., ProCare Chiropractic and Physiotherapy Centre, Union Enterprises, Urban Group, and other supporting organisations. The proceeds of the programme will go to our self-financed women services.
