YWCA organised “Pre-employment Training and Internship Programme for Event Coordinators” for young mothers from January to May, sponsored by Zonta Club of The New Territories. Trainees shared their reflections on personal growth with representatives from the sponsoring organisation and fellow participants at the graduation ceremony, creating a warm and touching vibe.

Through systematic pre-employment training and job support, the programme assisted participants in balancing childcare responsibilities while reclaiming their identity as learners. Special childcare services were provided too, allowing young mothers to focus on their training. Upon completing the programme and passing the interview, the trainees will engage in a 6-month part-time employment and on-the-job training at the Association. This initiative not only prepares young mothers with practical experience that is essential for full-time job in the future, but also provides flexibility that allows them to take care of their families. 

At the graduation ceremony, a young mother, under the pseudonym Ying, said, "I am grateful to YWCA for providing this valuable learning experience, together with the thoughtful childcare services. I used to feel frustrated because of my low educational background. This opportunity allowed me to get involved in event coordination work. The most inspiring part was to learn shooting videos from scratch, which made me realise that I am quite creative. Throughout the process, I also discovered my own capabilities to balance work while taking care of my 9-month-old baby. I can be a mother without losing my own identity."

Since participating in “CLAP@JC” in 2015, the Association has been dedicated to establishing career and life development supportive service for young mothers. We assist pregnant girls or mothers aged 15-24 to embrace their roles as mothers, reclaim their identities as learners, and equip themselves to become workers. The Association will continue to provide support for young mothers in the future, helping them to live a fruitful life.
