The Association organised the 6th Glocal Y closing ceremony successfully
Participants of the 6th Glocal Y, co-organised by the Association’s Women Affairs Department and Youth and Community Service Department, shared their achievements at the closing ceremony.
Since September last year, young ladies have joined a series of training, including lecture on gender issue, leadership camp and design thinking workshop that helped to advance their communication and problem solving skills. They formed groups to conduct interviews, visits, and community services in order to gain insights on topics about poverty of the underprivileged women, body shape and health, female-friendly environment, etc. They also tried to address the issues to meet some of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, e.g. gender equality, quality education and no poverty.
Professor Susanne Yuk Ping Choi from the Department of Sociology, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Ms. Eva Lee, the Association’s second Vice-President and Chairlady of YWCA Movement and Ms. Yvonne Yeung, the Association’s Chief Executive were invited to interact with the participants and provide valuable comments. They expressed their appreciation to the young ladies for their concern for women's empowerment and gender discrimination.
To conclude the event, participants staged a production about the difficulties faced by women in different walks of life, and reminded audiences to voice for the society and advocate women’s right even in the face of injustice.
