Hang Seng volunteers and kids mixed learning with pleasure
Hang Seng Bank joined the “Happy Study Tour” with primary school students and visited HKYWCA’s Y Farm to learn how to care for the environment.
Participants toured around the farm and learned about the plants and uses of different parts from the elder volunteers and social worker. They then took part in farming activities such as removing grasses and collecting roselle petals etc.. Volunteers made tea with roselle and shared with all the children. With the assistance of the volunteers, the children learned to make bread and were satisfied for being able to master the skill of shaping the dough and baking bread. After that, they recycled food waste and made potted plants with eggshells.
Thanks to Hang Seng Bank for spending time with the children in Y Farm, to let the students understand the importance of reducing food waste and developing a caring attitude to the environment, through experience. It is more likely for the kids to remember what they have learnt from a trip than from the book.
