To familiarise young old with tactics to improve one’s competitiveness in the market, the Association conducted two seminars. Ms. Gloria Sung, a project officer of “SMART Job Team” of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council mentioned that young old should not be limited by their experience. Instead, they should pay attention to what the job market is looking for and match with their own strengths. Besides, Mr. Martin Kwong, a trainee of the Foundation Certificate in Physiotherapist Assistant Training shared his story in switching industry. He lost his job in the toy industry as the industry declined. He then decided to develop a new career and hence took an ERB course on physiotherapy. After completing the course, he worked as a self-employed physiotherapist assistant and stretching tutor for elders. He pointed out that other than taking care of the elderly, escorting them to medical consultations, performing household cleaning, etc., a successful outreach physiotherapist assistant need to constantly equip oneself with up-to-date knowledge. Therefore, he took extra courses and has already gained qualification on elderly physical fitness training and first aid, which are believed to be beneficial to his career development.
