HKYWCA promoted marital adversity support services through community engagement
Sponsored by “Women Helping Women”, HKYWCA Women Affairs Department held a community engagement event at Lok Fu Place, to raise public awareness on the needs of single-moms and divorced families.
After the welcoming speech of Ms. Fiona Yuen, the head of Women Affairs Department of the Association, Mosaic, the A Cappella group from The University of Hong Kong used music to kick off the event. In order to let the public understand more about the suffering of people facing marital adversity, the Association invited two speakers to share their professional advices. Ms. Vera Lam, a legal adviser, introduced measures that separated/divorced women can take based on the Marriage Ordinance. Dr. Stephen Man, a psychologist, mentioned common negative emotions found on single mothers, and provided ways to relieve such sentiments. In addition, a magic show was arranged and audiences were invited to go on stage to help complete the performance. It encouraged participants to help those who are suffering.
Numerous booths were set up. Except introducing the Association’s marital adversity support services and the related mobile app, game stations were also set up to let people meet new friends and share their experience.
