HKYWCA CLAP Team organised the first Taiwan tour of CLAP MILES programme with Coffee as the theme. The programme aims to empower the youths, identify their career interests and help them to better plan their future.
Participants earned CLAP MILES for an exchange tour to Taiwan by attending a variety of activities, including coffee brewing classes, handmade soap classes, coffee shop visiting and work internship in Hong Kong to acquire more knowledge about the coffee industry and understanding about its job duties.
With the assistance of our social workers, the youths created their own itinerary as a training of the organisation skill. During the trip, the youths advanced their knowledge and skills by learning latte art, coffee brewing and tasting, and experience sharing with local baristas. They also visited a coffee farm to learn the different kinds of coffee beans and procedure of coffee production. After the trip, the participants had a practical opportunity to make coffee with latte art and share their Taiwan experiences with a group of DSE students at Chai Wan Youth Square.
CLAP MILES is for non-engaged youths aged 15 to 21. Participants earn miles by joining different kinds of career related activities to redeem an exchange trip. Teenagers can learn more knowledge of different industry and recognise their value, attitude, talent throughout the programme to help them better plan their future. The second trip of CLAP MILES with marathon as the theme will be started in May 2019. Teenagers will have a chance to take part in the marathon in Taiwan after completing a series of training, volunteering, workplace visit etc. Please like its Facebook Page or contact our social worker Mr. Yip at 2559 6310 for more details or registration.
