Art Tour 2019 incorporated elements of talent show, bazaar and maker faire
Art Tour 2019 was successfully held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in March, offering a platform for youths to showcase their potentials in art and creativity, and encouraging them to chase their dreams.
The Association was pleased to have Ms. Wong Ka Lai, Kaire, Social Work Officer 1 (Planning & Coordinating) of Social Welfare Department, Kowloon City & Yau Tsim Mong District to officiate at the ceremony. Bands, dancers, stall owners and makers attracted more than 6,000 visitors.
The maker culture has been widely spread over the world. Makers acquire knowledge and skills from the Internet and realise their imaginations. To accommodate the young makers in Hong Kong, Art Tour 2019 included a section to display different makers’ products, including a self-made wooden seesaw, wooden electronic guitar, a toy bus that can be taken. A laser engraving cutting machine and 3D pens were also available for visitors to enjoy the fun of the maker culture.
The essence of the Art Tour, talent showcase and bazaar, was also kept. While 22 groups of performers from HKYWCA’s service centres amused the visitors with songs and dances, there were a wide variety of creative products being sold in the 42 stalls, including hand-made accessories, cartoon portrait drawings, pottery, leather products etc. Some young talents even provided experiential activities to interact with the visitors. The event has been showed the vitality, creativity and enthusiasm of young people.
