HKYWCA Western District Integrated Social Service Centre was invited to co-organise a series of events about the traditional yet stylish garment “Qipao”. The first major event, featuring 40 collectors cars, was held last month at Chater Road Pedestrian Precinct, Central. Elders were invited to join the parade and ride the collectors cars.
The parade was supported by Collectors Car Club of Hong Kong Ltd, who brought 40 cars into view and allowed guests and elders to tour around Central Western district on these classic vehicles. Other performances, including the Hong Kong Sea School Sliver Band, acapella and street dance, were also amazing, attracting half a thousand of onlookers.
The “Qipao” programme is co-host by Social Welfare Department Central Western, Southern and Islands District Social Welfare Office, Hong Kong Chinese Qipao Society, Mutual Caring Association Limited and Youth Square. It aims at fostering transgenerational harmony by encouraging elderly and youngsters to appreciate each other through Qipao promotion events. The Association was glad to be one of the 5 co-organising NGOs and be responsible to coordinate the Collectors Car Parade.
