“Youth Employment Start” (Y.E.S.) Center in Kwai Fong invited Financial Secretary Mr. John Tsang and Secretary for Food and Health Dr. Ko Wing-man to share their dreams and working experience with the youth.
Mr. John Tsang Chun-wah, GBM, JP, Financial Secretary, attended a sharing session and explored difficulties faced by young people nowadays concerning studies, career and businesses, through discussion with three youngsters. He also shared how his family and friends opposed his decision of coming back to Hong Kong, and what problems he had to deal with when he held offices in various departments. Mr. Tsang encouraged young people to leave comfort zone and explore the full-of-challenge world. He also reminded the audience not to be constrained by social expectations and get too far away from one’s goal.
In another sharing session, Dr. Ko Wing-man, BBS, JP, Secretary for Food and Health talked about how he developed the dream of being a doctor and how he realised his dream. He also mentioned his work in the Hospital Authority and the Food and Health Bureau. Dr. Ko reminded himself from time to time the reason that made him a doctor. Working in a different position did not stop him from pursuing his dream. Although adversity once hit him, he still believed in his motto - “skip calculating and work hard” and encouraged the youngsters not to give up their dreams easily.
HKYWCA has been appointed as the operating organisation for the Labour Department’s “Youth Employment Start” (Y.E.S.)
