Everyone had dreams. Yet, difficulties and challenges make us forget, abandon or bury our dreams along the path when we grow. One of the difficulties is the lack of talent.
The lack of beauty, stature, voice, health etc. is a common reason for people to doubt one’s own ability. Some choose to turn away from their dreams and struggle to survive reality. Many find life satisfactory, but never satisfying.

Florence Foster Jenkins was an American socialite and amateur soprano in early 19th century. She was known for her lack of rhythm, pitch, and tone, her aberrant pronunciation, and her generally poor singing ability. Being an heiress, she could have enjoyed life with her fortune and avoided being an object of ridicule. However, she did not give up her dream of becoming a great singer as she understood how much she treasured the moment on stage.
HKYWCA will hold a charity premiere in August, featuring Florence Foster Jenkins, the story of the opera singer. With “Pursuing Dreams • Cheering for the Youngsters” as the theme of the event, the proceeds will go to the Association’s Career Development and Life Planning Services.

Synopsis:
The true story of Florence Foster Jenkins (Meryl Streep), the legendary New York heiress and socialite who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great opera singer. The voice she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Her “husband” and manager, St Clair Bayfield (Hugh Grant) an aristocratic English actor, was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944, St Clair knew he faced his greatest challenge.
