Yvonne Yeung shared a CEO’s competencies in HKCSS Convention
The HKCSS Convention cum Caring Company Partnership Expo was held successfully on May 10, 2016 (Tuesday) in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Numerous issues were discussed through the platform offered by the 1st HKCSS Convention. The Association’s Chief Executive Ms. Yvonne Yeung was invited to be a guest speaker for the HKCSS Institute Forum, in the discussion of “Leadership challenges for an expanding NGO boundary”. Ms. Yeung worked at first in the business sector, later for social enterprises, and now in the social welfare field. In the section “Cross-boundary reflections on CEO competencies”, she shared how she has led a NGO with reference to the experience from the business sector. A lot of social workers view administrative work as a burden to the services a NGO provides. Ms. Yeung believes that administrative work actually builds capacity for the organisation and helps the organisation to grow. She suggested that social welfare organisation is like a car where capacity building process is the power engine. A good power engine is one of the major factors for a car to move. “To build a nice power engine is the most important job of a CEO,” she said. By aligning the staff with the organisation, a NGO can grow by leaps and bounds, and hence bring positive social impact to the society and enhance the well-being of the general public. She also mentioned that linkage between the vision and services of the organisation is important. The organisation's services can be advanced only if they are led by open-minded and adventurous leaders who have a clear vision and treasure innovative ideas. You’ve already found your boarding pass to success. When will the day come for the youngsters? At the Caring Company Partnership Expo 2016, HKYWCA's leaflet and booth resembled boarding pass and check-in counters at the airport. At the airport, everyone is departing for different destinations. Some may go for an island to enjoy sunshine. Others may choose a metropolis to experience its vibrancy. It is the same for a teenager's future: full of possibilities. The Association's career and life adventure planning services serve as the check-in counters to distribute the Boarding Pass of Dream to the teenagers, and help them to find a reachable destination. Representatives from different corporates joined us to learn how our services help teenagers to reach their dreams. If you agree that our design and service is inspiring, please like our booth's photo in the album of "Caring Company Scheme" Facebook Page. Your support may help us to get more exposure to promote Career and Life Adventure Planning. Photo link: https://goo.gl/B4jtHd.
