“Joyful Age” participants met again after 3-year services
NWS Holdings and HKYWCA have been working closely to improve the well-being of the community. In 2013, NWS Holdings donated HK$3 million to launch NWS Y Care Day Care Centre for the Elderly (North District) and purchase a new service coach. In addition, the 3-year “Joyful Age” Programme had been started for outreach services for elderly residing in remote villages in North District. The programme came to an end in April this year, and a reunion has been organised for past participants. They went sightseeing in the morning, and took great delight in singing, dancing, and sharing happy moments. During the past 3 years, around 800 volunteers from “Joyful Age” Programme visited 1,000 elderly living in the rural area like Sheung Shui, Fanling, Sha Tau Kok, Ta Kwu Ling etc. The volunteer team organised diversified activities for the elderly and established close relationship with the service users. HKYWCA is glad to work together with NWS Holdings again and will start another 2-year project soon, hoping to build an elderly friendly community.
