The final match of 30th Soccer Sevens by Hong Kong Social Workers’ General Union was held on April 10, with HKYWCA competing with Po Leung Kuk. The Association’s team fought hard and came second.
The championship started in November 2015. HKYWCA team entered the quarterfinal with three wins and one defeat from their opening four matches. The team then eliminated ELCHK and HKFYG, the champions of the last two years, in quarterfinal and semi-final respectively, and went through the final match again after 2011. During the final match, a player of Po Leung Kuk fired the ball past the Association’s goalkeeper and snatched victory at the last moment. HKYWCA team lost the game at 0:1.
The Association appreciates the spirit of the players and the effort they paid. We look forward to the championship next year, wishing greater achievement of the team.
Except the men’s football team, HKYWCA also has basketball teams for men and women. The teams bring together staff from different departments and centres, and hence strengthening the internal relationships, and promoting work-life balance.
