NWS Holdings’ volunteers visited elders living in Sheung Shui
The temperature fell to 3 degrees over the weekend, and a few degrees lower in the New Territories. Yet, a group of volunteers from NWS Holdings was not fearful of the cold weather, and brought warmth to the elderly living in the North District instead. The volunteers arrived at Tsiu Keng Village in Sheung Shui with hot soup and clothing that keep people warm. They visited various households in where elderly with impaired mobility live. The elders were happy to receive the soup and cloths, and a nice haircut that prepared them for the Chinese New Year. After lunch, the volunteers held an activity at the village office. Other than haircut service, they also provided basic health check for the elderly. To celebrate the upcoming Year of the Monkey, they offered fortune Fai-Chun and New Year gifts too. The event was part of the “Joyful Age” Programme, which is a long-term collaboration between NWS Holdings Limited and HKYWCA since 2013. It aims at strengthening senior citizens’ connection with their community through regular visits and activities.
