Y Senior Care is set up under the Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme of the Home Affairs Department. Recently, the advisory committee of the Programme paid a visit to Y Senior Care to learn more about our services and operation.

Mr. Wong Kwong Yiu, Ricky, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on the Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme visited HKYWCA Jockey Club Social Service Building with members and secretariat of the committee to get a deeper understanding of Y Senior Care’s operation, services, financial impact, foreseeable challenges and even aspiration on future plan. Our staff also showed the guests around in the YWCA Jockey Club Y Rehabilitation and Care Elderly Centre and introduced the concept of one-stop platform for community health and care service.

The professional team of Y Senior Care consists of social workers, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, etc. and provides quality home-based rehabilitation and care services for elders and the needy. Service attendance has already exceeded 10,000 and more than 20 job opportunities have been created for the vulnerable community. The self-financed service has already attained fiscal balance and future plans include developing capacity building programme for foreign domestic helpers and remote rehabilitation training for patients.

The committee members appreciated the effort and resources that the Association devoted to front line staff training and management. They also agreed that the integration of different services results in a synergy that maximises the welfare of the elders and their caregivers. We would like to thank the committee members for the compliments and providing useful advices regarding future development.
