HKYWCA’s first time acknowledged as ERB Manpower Developer
The Employees Retraining Board (ERB) launched the “ERB Manpower Developer Award Scheme” in 2009, to promote a corporate culture advocating the importance of manpower training and development. HKYWCA was accredited for the first time as a Manpower Developer (MD) this year, under the new category "Government Department, Public Body and NGO". After reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of the participating organisations’ strategies and practices in manpower training and development, ERB held the 6th Presentation Ceremony of the Scheme in May. 110 organisations were acknowledged as MDs, of which 23 belonged to "Government Department, Public Body and NGO". The Association was one of the 23. The Association has always thought highly of human resources management. Therefore, a proactive training policy is developed to ensure every staff member acquire and maintain the necessary skills to reach their full potential. Examples include subsidizing or recommending staff member for local and overseas training programmes and activities; allowing the staff to take study leave in order to join work-related courses; holding seminars regularly so that the staff can learn from different guests. At the same time, welcoming programmes are prepared to greet new arrivals and introduce HKYWCA’s mission, culture, policies and fringe benefits.
