YWCA has been providing comprehensive social services to cater for the elderly. Despite the pandemic, we shares weal and woe with Hong Kong people, and keeps our faith during the hard times. To raise fund for our elderly services, including Y Farm for Healthy Ageing and Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre, the Association joins the Care for The Elderly Charity Ticket Campaign 2021. 

Bending forward and trimming toenails is simple for most people. However, for weak elderly with deteriorating eyesight, this is an arduous task which they cannot complete. They can only cut their toenails roughly or simply let them grow, causing long and brittle toenails, or even inflammation and swollen toes, and in the end difficulties in walking.

Dementia is a brain disease that hurts one’s memory, cognitive ability, and even sense of direction. When the situation gets bad, it affects the patients’ daily functioning. It is definitely a long goodbye for the carers. As Hong Kong’s ageing population brings more demented patients, it is important to raise public awareness of the disease. Therefore, YWCA joined hands with Hang Lung Properties to launch a series of workshops, telling the stories of the demented patients and their families.

Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre organised a day tour for 80 elderly singletons and doubletons to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
