From greeting guests, taking orders to serving food and beverages, none of these beats Anita Ng, a 70-year-old working at Garden View Lounge (GVL). She has worked in the restaurant for nearly ten years and has become accustomed to the manual labour, which is different from the clerical work she did before retirement. "It’s better to keep working while I’m still physically strong than to stay at home and do nothing every day," she said. “Working proves my contribution to society. YWCA Elderly Service Department joined the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES), to exchange ideas with the industry, and to encourage the public to employ technology to improve elderly’s quality of life.

「學習王」伯伯分享 鼓勵男長者多進修
香港基督教女青年會松柏學院一向鼓勵長者持續學習,活出豐盛人生,其第八屆畢業禮於今日隆重舉行,邀請到社會福利署助理署長(安老服務)李婉華女士,及香港基督教女青年會社會服務委員會主席樓瑋群博士擔任主禮嘉賓。逾650名長者齊穿畢業袍,當上「三活」(活得開心、活得健康、活得有意義) 樂齡人士,拒當「三等」(等食、等瞓、等死) 公民。
女青年會耆年服務部督導主任黎玉潔表示:「很多長者小時候因為不同的環境因素,未能實踐讀書夢。女青年會松柏學院便為他們提供一個良好的學習渠道,啟發個人潛能。學院的課程多元化,適合不同性格和興趣的公公婆婆報讀。」
