Fung was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and hyperactivity disorder when he was six. He was so energetic and emotional that his mother Yoyo was once worried and frustrated, “I was always afraid that I could not keep him safe as he ran so fast. Therefore, we usually went to restaurants and the park near our home. I don’t want to stay out for too long.”
YWCA Jockey Club Family Wellness Centre has launched the self-financed Y-SENse services to support and empower children with special educational needs (SEN). It provides comprehensive, quality and interdisciplinary support to SEN children, parents, teachers and social welfare workers, to build a healthy environment for kids to develop their talents.
The Association co-organised “The Visible Secret” picture storytelling workshop with Eslite Hong Kong. It was a parent-child reading session which showed the readers more about children with special educational needs (SEN).
