To help children with special educational needs (SEN) experience life, the Chevalier Group's volunteer team organised the event “Let’s go hand in hand – Exploring together”, to visit a science exhibition and attend a dessert workshop with the kids, which enabled them to learn in an enjoyable way.
Kerry Project Management (Hong Kong) Limited organised an activity called "Children's Life Experience Series: Let’s Go Grocery Shopping". Volunteers went shopping with SEN kids in the supermarket, so that the children could learn from the experience to cope with social norms and daily challenges.
Verinteers (Volunteers of Verint) invited children from the grassroots living in Sham Shui Po to join a baking class and make chocolate cakes together. They also prepared pastry for grassroots elderly. All children, elderly and Verinteers had a wonderful afternoon.
Dreams and happiness are more about how we live than where we live. YWCA Jockey Club Family Wellness Centre recently holds an exhibition in JCCAC, Shek Kip Mei, to showcase how families with SEN children live a positive life in subdivided unit, earning support and respect from community.

There may not be a cure for the disorders, yet early intervention and timely support not only can nurture children for success and happiness, but also relieve parenting pressure and tension within the family.
HKYWCA is now having a charity sale to raise funds for children with special educational needs (SEN) and their parents, with Y-SENse’s new picture book “Please give me more time”. The book is based on true stories and illustrates how an autistic child adapts to primary school life. It provides a great reference for the families and schools facing similar situation.
