Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Ellen Li District Elderly Community Centre

Ellen Li District Elderly Community Centre has been serving the North District for 30 years, and held a carnival and a banquet for celebration. Apart from the participation from the elderly, the Association was grateful that representatives from the Labour and Welfare Bureau, various rural committees and community partners joined us in this joyful time. 

Three Jockey Club Carer Space under operation by YWCA are now in service

YWCA has started operating Jockey Club Carer Space in Tsing Yi, Sheung Shui and Sai Wan Ho respectively since March this year. They adopt a carer-centric approach to provide appropriate services to carers. Professor Patrick Nip, Convenor of the Advisory Committee of the Jockey Club Carer Space Project, accompanied by Ms. Yvonne Yeung, Chief Executive of YWCA and Mr.

New book release: Worrying Otter – the fourth book of Emotional Education series

YWCA publishes the Emotion Education Series to help children and their parents to manage emotions through pair-reading. Previous published picture books Angry Croissant, Crying leaf and Disgusting Hair were highly recommended by clinical psychologists and well received among parents and children. The fourth volume Worrying Otter has just been published in July, and explores the emotion of “worry” through interesting pictures and story.

AEON "Yellow Receipt Campaign" raises funds for YWCA

Donate while you shop! YWCA participates in AEON "Yellow Receipt Campaign" and cordially invites your support. On the 11th of every month, customers will receive an extra yellow receipt after purchasing at AEON stores. By placing the receipts into the boxes given to YWCA, you can help raise funds for the Association, as AEON will donate products equivalent to 1% of the total transaction amount to our service users. 

Young mothers created YWCA supermarket with their handcrafted fishes and fruits

YWCA joined HKCSS’s S+ Summit cum Expo and introduced the Association’s career and life development supportive service for young mothers. The Expo was divided into four major zones under the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our booth was located at the zone on “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, and was transformed into a supermarket stocked with crochet vegetables, fruits and fishes by young mothers. The creative and exquisite handcrafts made our booth very popular and attracted many corporate partners to pay a visit.

YWCA launched “Embrace Emotions Programme for the Youth” to help teenagers release negative feelings

According to the data from the Education Bureau, the number of teen suicide cases has been on the rise in 2023. To tackle with the growing mental health problems among secondary students, the Association has launched the two-year “Embrace Emotions Programme for the Youth", which incorporates music therapy, art therapy, mental health workshops, etc. A series of activities will be organised to raise participants’ awareness of one’s own mental health, and to guide them to establish a good mental state by relieving their negative emotions.
