YWCA becomes one of the district organisers of Strive and Rise Programme

Strive and Rise Programme is organised through tripartite collaboration between the Government, the business sector and the community. The second phase has started and YWCA is one of the district organisers in Kowloon West. The Association sets up a new service centre in Saxon Tower, Lai Chi Kok and will organise different events for the participants. 

Miricor volunteer team spread love and care to elderly home

Many elders place great importance on Chinese New Year and are usually busy with the preparations. However, it is difficult for elderly living in Cheng Pon Hing Care & Attention Home for the Elderly to enjoy the festive momentum. Miricor volunteer team therefore organised a visit to help the seniors dress up in Chinese New Year outfits and capture their joyful smiles with photos. 

Volunteers wanted for YWCA’s Love Village

YWCA has been serving the community with love and care, by offering a wide range of services to all ages, from newborn to elderly. For the first time, YWCA will collaborate with Moomin to raise funds on Flag Day.

Volunteers of China Overseas participated in Christmas afternoon tea party workshop in YWCA Nursery School

Christmas is around the corner! Many people have great ideas to spend their Christmas with family and friends. But some people would like to spread their love and care to people in need in our community. Volunteer team of China Overseas Holdings Limited organised an afternoon tea workshop with YWCA Chiu Oi Wah Nursery School. They spent an enjoyable afternoon tea party with the nursery school students there.

The public lent a helping hand to flood victims in North District

Affected by extreme weather last month, severe flooding happened in large area of Hong Kong, including the North District. YWCA reacted promptly to coordinate post-disaster solutions including comforting the flood victims and identifying their immediate needs, organising volunteer teams from different sectors, pleading for donation from corporations, and liaising with different government departments to coordinate all remedy work. Many responded to our calls and lent flood victims a helping hand.

Korea Exchange Tour for YWCA young leaders

Young leaders and honorable volunteers of YWCA went on an exchange tour to Seoul, Korea recently. They visited National YWCA of Korea and several places to learn about local women’s issues and explore various social hot topics, especially nuclear and peace issues in Korea through different activities and meetings. They were allowed to examine the subjects in different angles which broadened their mindset.

CLARINS invited children of underprivileged families to join baking class

CLARINS, a renowned cosmetic brand organised an event “Walking along with the kids” in late June. Children from the grassroots living in Sham Shui Po were invited to join a baking class. Accompanied by over 20 CLARINS’ volunteers, the children made chocolate cakes and scones and spent a wonderful weekend with full of sweet fragrance.

What is volunteer work?

“Volunteering is the contribution of time, effort and talent to a need, cause or mission without financial gain. This kind of simplicity attracts me and now I get used to volunteering regularly. Even on my birthday, I went out in the morning to give anti-epidemic items to the elderly and cleaners in Sham Shui Po. This makes my birthday special,” said a YWCA Honorary volunteer.
